Our interaction with John Gerritz has been excellent, greatly exceeding all our expectations. John worked with us from the start; from lot and plan selection to the home walk through and possession and in addressing our questions and concerns after possession. His extensive experience was evident from the beginning when he worked out the details of our contract on short notice, and the construction was initiated on the day the bank signed off on the loan.

It appears that John has built up a great network within the industry, as evidenced by his setting up material deliveries and aligning schedules with the sub-contractors extremely well. We visited the job site every day, and did not find a time when the progress was stalled due to gaps in scheduling.

John was very proactive in letting us know what phase of construction was coming up in the immediate time frame – within a four-week window. This gave us sufficient time to visit supplier showrooms and select features or make changes as applicable. Throughout the construction process, John was just a phone call away and would stop by the job site to discuss any concerns we had.

Among many things, two items really highlight John’s commitment to working with us and keeping our interests a priority:
1) There was a feature in the kitchen that was in the approved plan, but did not look right after framing. John promptly worked with us to modify the feature, which resulted in a kitchen that meets our liking much better than what the plan indicated.
2) John always provided cost alternatives as applicable DURING the building process, which enabled us to balance costs while making improvements in areas where our preferences were.
Overall, working with John has been an excellent experience all the way through, and we look forward to working with him on our next residence in the future. We’re extremely pleased with the quality and the appearance of our house and state that everything was customized to our preferences. We will definitely recommend John to anyone who is interested in building a custom home.

When we decided to build a new house in the fall of 2009, we were fortunate to find John Gerritz. John helped coordinate all phases of the process from floor plan selection/modification to design decisions to construction, installation and detail. He committed to meeting an aggressive schedule and then beat that schedule by six weeks, finishing the house in less than five months.

John was fair in pricing our house to be competitive in today’s market, taking into account the design elements we wanted (e.g., dual heating/cooling, wood floors through most of the main level, etc.) From the moment work began, we could tell the subcontractors respected John. They did quality work in a timely, professional fashion.

We had peace of mind knowing that John was frequently on site overseeing the various stages of construction. Additionally, John was always available to confer with and flexible in making small modifications to our original building plan as construction progressed.

From start to finish, John was always available to answer our questions, guide us on decisions and offer advice. He helped make a potentially stressful process quite enjoyable.
